Question by : What is the training regime of a championship Heavyweight Boxer? i.e David Haye, Klitschko’s?
I’m interested in finding out about the various elements of Heavyweight Boxing training and I wondered if there was anyone out there who could shed some light on the daily training routines of these guys. What they eat, how much of it they eat, whether they consume supplements, how much running they do, what their gym training consists of, whether they bench really heavy weights etc. Would be very appreciated as I can’t find that much online! thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by americasfavoritethug
it would be the same as any boxer with the exception of the caloric intake…
michael phelps was eating 10,000 calories per day to maintain his size during training..
im no nutricianist but i bet he is eating more than 5000 per day.
in addition to protein shakes and other muscle vitamin type drinks..
also vitamins such as glucamine to ease tension on joints and help you recover faster
boxer generally dont lift weights we build muscle thru fast twitch reflex exercises.. like working the heavybag for 6 rounds, doing push ups the entire round, pullups, situps.. if they do lift its generally lighter weights not heavy lifting..
during fight traing most guys are running anywhere between 3 to 10 miles daily…. DAILY!!!!

Heavy Bag Workout Routines MMA If you like mixed martial arts (MMA), trying different MMA heavy bag workout routines can enhance your overall performance. Make sure you do not try an advanced routine until you are experienced, to avoid possible injury to both your hands and legs. Buy a mouthpiece to protect your teeth when you bite down during your training. Do not try MMA heavy bag workout routines without the proper gloves, and also consider using shin guards until your legs have become accustomed to the pounding they receive from kicking the bag. Be sure to do a rigorous warm up before you start any Heavy Bag Workout

Question by lilbaabo: Boxing Training.?
I was thinking of starting boxing during the summer and i just wanted to prep myself up before i actually get into it…(alwaays nice to surprise peoplee, yaknoww? ;] ). and i’m currently getting homeschoooled so i have a ton of timee that i can use to get in shaape and it would be reaally helpful if someone can make a full routine to get me ready.

i have a speedbag and a heavybag, and you can also put jogging and jumproping in the routine as well.
and can you put it in detail of what different combinations i should work on (left jab, right hook, etc etc).
i also lift weights and it would be cool to know what muscles are mainly used during boxing so i can concentrate on those muscle groups.
i can do it everyday, and train more than once everyday too for over about a 4-6 week period.

thaanks.

Best answer:

Answer by piccolopete19
Its not hard
Punch the bag hard again and again

Like just kind of wondering what the overview of it is, and the training and stuff etc. Also, do most high schools have a boxing clubs for girls?
Please. Dont be a little bitch and judge me from some neon photo where you can only see my head. I cant even swim, and fyi im one of the strongest girls in my grade.

Best answer:

Answer by kalambre
Judging on your photo I suggest you look for another sport. I mean boxing is a full contact sport and you look so fragile, girl?

No offense but, please settle in swimming. It fits for you.

Question by asher j: Boxing training and building muscle mass?
I am very serious about making boxing training a part of my life now, but at the same time i desperately need to gain some muscle mass. I know that boxing requires a large quantity of cardiovascular conditioning. Are there ways I can overcome this issue? I’m an ectomorph, so building muscle is hard enough already. But adding cardio will make it even harder. What should I do?

Also, I’m 18, is it too late for me to think about getting into boxing professionally?

Best answer:

Answer by Sam L
I am not an expert, but the big names start when they’re younger. You would be at a severe disadvantage getting started. Unless you are an unbelievable natural at the sport, your prospects as a pro aren’t good.

That being said, if you really want to box, go box. I just wouldn’t count on making a career out of it.

Alternatively, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu relies much less on pure strength.

Question by : Will doing weights effect my boxing training?
Im training to hopefully get into serious amateur or semi pro Boxing, I still go to the gym about 5 times a week and do weights as I want to also gain strength and build muscle. I obviously concentrate a lot on cardio as well. I try to spa, run and do a lot of bag work but i’m not sure if weights will have a negative or positive effect on my boxing training? If so what exercises should I avoid or emphasize?

Would really appreciate some input
Cheers!

Best answer:

Answer by Billboxing
It’s an old school belief that wieghts ARE taboo in boxing. You’re looking for flexibility and a snap in your punch, not too much bulk.Very light weights today may be accepted in certain instances, but only when a trained nutritionist or trainer is on the team.
