When men and women of faith respond to Gods calling, watch out! Church leaders like to put their faith into action immediately. Indeed, the sweet aroma of serving in the pastoral ministry is unique. If this describes you, then were certain that you just cant wait to have tremendous impact in Gods kingdom. While others may start ministries in existing fellowships, you think about starting a your own church from the ground up and dedicating yourself to the ministry. Which probably means that you want to spread the Word as quickly as possible. Before that happens, take a few minutes to evaluate some necessary questions. Have you taken the time to identify and evaluate the concerns that can imperil the continuity and endurance of a Christian community? If your goal is to be excellent for the Lord, a bit more consideration and planning are in order. Here are two of the most important concerns that should make up your risk management plan.

Make decisions about legal and religious authority, which involve the rules by which a church is governed and preferences are made. Many leaders are confused by the notion of authority. Its not authority itself that bothers them, but how its employed. A few are convinced church authority should just be understood. Others hold to the notion that if church authority is directed by the scriptures, disciples should simply grasp it and get with the program. There are those who dont really contemplate it and will simply wing it day after day. Unfortunately, despite their relevance to help start new church ministries, matters of authority are forgotten. This is about much more than how to plan authority in a ministry. There are many ways to realize that and churches are free to do as they so choose. The bottom line is that completely ignoring the matter leaves the Christian community vulnerable to intervention by secular courts. Should a controversy occur, courts can force a concept of church authority that was never desired by pastors. And that is rarely acceptable because secular courts are not qualified to choose what is appropriate for a ministry, even when church leaders have failed to think for themselves.

Also, remember the importance of a constitution, which is among the most obvious issues in its significance to a church. Examples of what these include are: a declaration of the churchs primary purpose and tenets of faith; regulations and sacraments; ordination practices; rules governing membership; legal and religious authority; the hiring and firing of ministry personnel; and other such matters.
