Central Park is a large park! It is about 843 acres in size. It is also a very popular park. It is easily the most visited city park in the United States. The park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux who also later created Brooklyn's Prospect Park. It was officialy completed in 1873 after over 10 years of work.

There's an unlimited amount of things to see in Central park. Really you could spend a year in Central park and probably not see everything! So that's all the more reason to try and help you find some of the really cool parts. The Central Park Zoo is one such really cool part! There's also a Children's Petting Zoo which is the only place to see a goat in NYC! I believe you can actually get a ticket to both at the same time! While the Central Park Zoo is nowhere near the size of the Bronx Zoo it's still a very nice Zoo and a lot less overwhelming! You can find the Zoos if you enter the park on 64th street on the east side! Another cool thing in Central Park are all the artists there that want to draw your picture. Usually you can't walk too far in Central Park before you find these great sketch artists who usually have a very cheap price to do some really cool sketches. They do them very quickly too! If you are a John Lennon fan like me you'll also definitly want to see the Strawberry Fields Memorial which was inaugurated in 1985 on what would have been John Lennon's 45th birthday. John Lennon lived at the Dakota apartment building on West 72nd street which overlooked Central Park. This is why the memorial is located where it is at Central Park West & 72nd street. Usually you can find all sorts of people there playing guitars and singing songs.
